The Great Story Of Our Culinary Journey
The Blondinit is a family restaurant—ours, and, we hope, yours. Welcome to it.
Here’s an idea for you: soul food. Blondinit is Israeli soul food. Soul food is based on the idea that every human being has a unique soul, and each soul inhabits a distinct body. Now, apply this ancient and profound concept to food. Our menu consists of local spices, herbs, and flavors from cultures and nationalities all over the Mediterranean, add a couple thousand years of bustle, drama and travel, mix in more influences from North Africa to Europe to Asia, and you end up with something really delicious.
The Sade family—owner and proprietor Solomon, wife Inda, and our two daughters, Arielle and Sophie—are local Westport residents. Solomon’s family is from Israel. The Sades found—and fell in love with—Westport. We officially made it our home two years ago.
The Blondinit is authentic Israeli food as you would enjoy in a grill house in Tel Aviv with many unique dishes and recipes from our family in Israel. Our food is 100% authentic. We import most products (pickles, tahini, herbs, spices, chickpeas, juices) directly from Israel, as we do our beers and wines, which come from local Israeli vineyards and breweries. Even our pitas are made to exact specifications from an Israeli-owned bakery in Brooklyn.
Israeli cuisine is cross-cultural. Israel didn’t become a country until 1948, so some of the nationally adopted dishes originated with migrants from neighboring countries. For example, an Iraqi bus driver living in Israel thought of a way to conveniently feed other hungry bus drivers; the Sabich, his creation, quickly became a popular staple of Israeli food. Our brunch menu features traditional Israeli dishes (falafel, numerous salads, shawarma, fish, grilled lamb, beef, and chicken) as well as some unique items (try the Baklava Pancakes or the Chicken Shawarma Waffles, or the Shakshuka for brunch).
We look forward to welcoming you to our Table!
